Written in Memory of  Glori Davies

 { Gloria Dawn Sandra Davies }

In this world of computer screens,
Of e-mail friends,
With faces unseen,
It's hard to know how to say good-bye.

It's not as if you've met them,
Hugged their shoulders,
Held their hands,
Or heard them sigh.

And yet, you knew their smiles :),
Knew when they hurt,
Knew all their ways & wiles;
How they'd joke or laugh or cry.

Emotions were shared with the strike of a key,
Lives sent back and forth
Across all land and sea.
How those e-mails would fly.

You shared good news, and you shared bad;
You celebrated victories,
You comforted the sad;
Sometimes, you just said `hi!'

But now, the time for `hi!' is done;
The e-mails stopped,
Your friend is gone.
It's time to say good-bye.

Some don't understand why it's so hard,
For aside from e-mails
And a few possible cards
You'd never met them eye-to-eye.

They don't know how deeply she touched your heart,
How she knew your thoughts,
How much she played a part;
When you cry, they just ask "why?"

It's because in this world of computer screens,
Of e-mail family,
With faces unseen,
It's just as hard to type it as it is to say "good-bye".
